I have searched the globe (Net) but can not find info or, better yet, references on spontaneous orgasms. I had a girlfriend who would wake up in the middle of a dream by the intensity of the orgasm the dream produced. I've witnessed this myself and I can attest to the validity of it. She had all the "normal" signs-- tense body, holding her breath, vocal sounds, heart pounding, and extreme wetness. She could never remember her dream, though. Our sex life was very active and I could even get her to produce ejaculate through G-spot manipulation. So it's not like she was so sensitive from hardly ever being touched. I've been asking around and found another woman who has these episodes, not only in her sleep, but orgasms during the day, awake, without physical stimuli! In her case, it only happens when she is very stressed-out. She's done it in class as she begins to take a test. Has an orgasm right there in her chair! Obviously, her mind is very good to her body and produces the orgasm to relieve stress. Conversely, her boyfriend can't produce an orgasm in her. What is it that causes these spontaneous orgasms (without physical stimulation)? Where can I read more on this?

Dear Wow!,
Women, just like men, may experience nocturnal emissions or wet dreams. The statistic from the 1950's Kinsey Report revealed that 2 out of 3 women have erotic dreams, and women who have sexual intercourse or masturbate are more likely to experience nocturnal orgasms.
When awake, both men and women may be able to bring themselves to a point of orgasm through sexual fantasy unaccompanied by physical stimulation. Erotic thoughts themselves can cause sexual arousal and orgasm. Orgasm is a physiological buildup and explosive discharge of tension. People claim to get sexually aroused to the point of orgasm from various unorthodox stimuli: certain exercise positions, jazz music, certain smells, deep breathing techniques, exams, etc. In the book, "Let's Talk Sex", by Isadora Alman, a man explains how he can have orgasms while doing leg-lifts and sit-ups in a certain way, and a woman also has orgasms during sit-ups and aerobics classes. All folks are different-- but there are a few others like your ex!
